Born in Greymouth, New Zealand. At the age of four we moved to Ruawai, Northland, NZ where I grew up and worked on the family farm, I gave away farming at the age of 30 and moved to Australia, that was 27 years ago. I now call Australia home.
I became interested in photography when I was a young boy scout. My Scout Master was the local Photographer and I spent many weekends at his place learning all I could. The interest remained through out the years and I have had a number of cameras,
My first a Box Brownie, followed by Minoltas, Ricoh SLR's, and a number of others. I am now the proud owner of a Sony DSLR A700 and a Sony DSLR A900 full frame.
It was the age of Digital photography that made it more affordable, and rekindled my interest in photography, especially in Bird photograhy.
My main lens is the Sony 70/200 2.8 G series lens, with which most of the pictures here were taken. I have since have added a Sony 300 f 2.8 G Series and a CZ 24-70 f 2.8
As time goes by I plan to cover more topics such as Sports, Landscape and Portraiture, but nature photography is my real passion.
All the photos in the nature section have been photographed in the wild.
Although some can not be used in nature competitions due to the fact they show the hand of man, none of these were photographed in captivity.
I joined the Peninsula Camera Club here in North Brisbane 2 years ago, where I have progressed through to A grade. Last year I took out the Projected Digital Nature award for the club.
I hope you enjoy the photos here as much as I have had taking them.
